Airline Statistics – read them before you Fly!

Actually, do it now

#17.11.2010Since Airlines were invented, passengers asking themselves repeatedly if they were safety. Later came the questions which ones are recommend based on comfort and reviews; and given rankings and ratings based on official government evaluation reports.

Finally came the question which airline has been banned where and especially why. Mostly of course because an Airline or particular Airlines does not seemed to be safe by Authorities.

My accumulated top links below provide some of the answers. While Airplanes do crashes once in a while, every year, they do have actually only few accidents. It can be said that today airlines are as safety as they never were. In average, casualties based on airline crashes are far less than public transportation on land or sea. An they get “Greener”, too.

Airliner normally are maintained to the utmost degree. After all, who wants to fall from the sky? Certainly not the captain and its crew and certainly not the paying passengers. But also the company is under strict review to make sure that they do not exclude certain aviation procedures to save some money.

If an airline crashes, the causalities are often high because the number of passengers an Airliner can carry. For now, the latest plane can carry up to 700 at once – with the amazing Boeing 700. The Airbus is also not far away with this achievement.

Authorities do keep track of each accident. They want to know exactly what has happened and why. After all, a crash may have been the result of a rare design error which shows it flaws only on certain conditions.

Nowadays, especially if a large Airliner falls down or even explodes, the whole fleet of these particular type of aircraft may be grounded, national or even worldwide afterwords by aviation authorities..

Nevertheless, the real reason might never be discovered. If an airliner goes down over sea, there might be nothing from that Aircraft left to evaluate. It might be in thousands of pieces on the bottom of the deep see without any possibility to retrieve anything worth what might have contributed to the crash.

Yet, I do feel safe in an Aircraft as anywhere else. I just do not think nor believe that I’m doomed since my birth to die 10000 meter above ground, or better said, on the uncontrolled way down. Rather I enjoy the most dangerous moments of start and landing and everything in believe.

Anyhow, for those who want to know more about the safety and quality of  Aircrafts, I’ve provide a few links worth to evaluate.

The Sleeping Buddha Being Lost – A Plessing?

Everyone knows that famous sleeping Buddha in Wat Pho (The Temple of the Reclining Buddha) in Bangkok, Thailand and that is one of the places where most tourists and local nearby Thai residents go.”

But only a few know that actually 45 minutes far from it, via long-tail boat, and near a small canal of Thonburi/Nonthaburi (East of Bangkok) another such sleeping Buddha exist. Not as golden or as long, but certainly impressive in size and pretty to watch in the green surrounding.

I went to that Buddha twice the last years but for some mysterious reasons nobody can tell me the name of that Buddha, the town and its exact location.

You can almost go by boat directly to it, but the last embankment place there is perhaps 100 meters away and you can’t see the monastery directly. You have to walk to it and be aware of the wild dogs around all the time.

Sleeping Buddha Japan: Blessings

Unfortunately, back in Bangkok, the long-tail boat pier for casual Thais (not especially Tourists, but they can use it too) has changed and at the new (and old place) nobody seems ever to have heard from the holly statue.

I can almost pinpoint the location after you have past the beautiful and special designed tower of Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn); and then you are on your way. Still, again, nobody can tell me exactly how to go to it. Not even the public waterway drivers I met.

The trip is actually a very leisured one with only few stops and you see the original Bangkok, even Thailand, which hasn’t changed much over there. Nonthaburi is the place of many Buddhist monasteries but the one I’m looking for is not in the casual maps.

I do not even know if the name of the town where the place is, is the right one, but I believe it must be in Nonthaburi and actually, as a guideline, it wasn’t far away from the home of the local Governor by then.

Sometimes I think to hide that Buddha is a blessing for the residents. Who wants actually to have another tourist attraction around? But for the one who wants to go to tribute and pray at that place, it is more than pity not to find the way. When I went to it, I was the only foreigner by then.

With very hard work I think I could find it, but that monastery is, like the mythical Avalon island or the actual never existed Shangrila (Path) monastery, just not for everyone. Perhaps it is better not to spread the word of its location once re-known again.

Your Car – Your Personality

Cleaning a car is dangerous as it might show your personality and psychology via the car colors. But not cleaning it might move you instead close to the kind of animals who does not care about cleaning. The choice is yours.

Your are a proud owner of a vehicle called car. It might be a pretty and very expensive one or so ugly that peoples actually think its an unmovable pile of rust and dust. Yet, it is your car, even if you don’t own it yet and still may have to pay for it for years to come.

Such a car is not made for you but for your neighbors. Thus you have the annoying obligation to clean it at least from the outside once a month; or even every day to let it shine like a star.

Rusty cars can’t shine but some heavy dirt around them can be removed in a few days of dedicated work. Your body might feel much better after such an exercise, even if you might look in style like your uncleaned car afterwards.

Top 15 most expensive Cars: Where are You?

Imagine that after a few hours or days of work, your car indeed looks like another one on the street, or even better. So what to do? Obviously, you have to show your work and to invite guests to see your hard labor. But most important, you have to drive it around the block where you were born or to engage your friends into a longer journey.

The result would be of course a dirty car again, so perhaps it is a better solution just not to move the car at all and show only the outside while discussing the detailed specs in ways that others believe that your car simply can’t be reproduced any time again and should stay where it is.

Anyway, according psychologist Geoffrey Miller, once you cleaned up your car you are dangerous exposed: The color (and type) of your car tell insiders who you are really as you are strategically display your personality traits with possibly intended (or unaware) false advertising of yourself!

Note that according RAC, pastel-colored car owners are eight times more likely to suffer from depression than people with bright colored cars. How dangerous.

To avoid to be a quick victim of road rage, your car need to be colored in silver or metallic blue, demonstrating that you are a happy driver (even if you are not). Owners of black and red cars are at the bottom of the car society and should know that. Traffic Police might have an eye on them. The car color theory is at least the opinion of Psychologist Conrad King.

In Thailand, for example, there are plenty of Lamborghini, Ferraris, BMWs and Mercedes being sold in the Capital, but the really nice and expensive ones you never got to see on the streets. They have been held in captivity so nobody can see them except the owner (maybe even they got banned from them). Neighbors seems not to play a big role as those cars, I suppose, are all in the same kind of protected high society real estate environments. It could be also that they are just defect and not working – out of rare spare parts!

My car color preference is white (I might have a distant personality), but very unfortunately that color shows also every small amount of dust even if I don’t drive. Metallic blended is also a color style I like.

I do however always buy a car according my budget and make sure representatives and repair shops are plenty positioned across the country. I take any color except black as that shows more dust and may make the inside hotter than I like.

In that case, the cleaning process cycle should be scheduled to start sooner! And if you curse because of the increased burden, remember that YOUR car is also YOUR best friend! #
